I can't say enough good things about Frieda's tour of Hasidic Williamsburg. The tour is thoughtfully designed around lifecycle events in Hasidic Jewish culture; each stop is an opportunity to explain the way of life of the Satmars, from children's toys in a store window to an Internet cafe, Hasidic style. Throughout, Frieda involves the group with thought provoking questions. There's always an interesting point to her explanations that directly connects with everyday life--the focus is the people, not the buildings. It's a powerful experience, and whatever your familiarity is with Hasidic culture, you'll walk away with a deeper understanding, a better sense of what it would be like to live that life, for better and worse. Without a doubt, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

A few words to describe Frieda's tour through the hasidic community of Williamsburg: highly informative, differentiated, respectful, personal and absolutely memorable. The tour covered topics such as history, childhood, education, marriage, family structures, interaction with the outside world, traditional fashion and food. Thanks to Frieda, we were able to gain insight into a different world and reflect on our own traditions and values. Thank you so much for sharing your experience with us. E. and V., Switzerland

My wife and I took Frieda's walking tour of North Williamsburg yesterday and came away awed by this accomplished and courageous young woman who was able to illuminate the lives of the Satmar Hasidim for us from the intensely personal perspective of someone who has broken free of this community, yet still honors her roots. Certainly the most personal and deep tour we've ever been on.
