I booked the 3hr canoe tour through Joe who is very friendly. Unfortunately, weather cancelled our original booking, but Joe and Kelly were great with keeping us informed, following up, and rescheduling our adventure.
We met John on the beach and were pleasantly surprised to be the only ones there for the 0700 tour. He gave us some instructions on how to paddle and enter the canoe before setting off toward Moku Nui. John is an outstanding story teller and as a Hawaiian native, he was very knowledgeable about the history and folklore of the area. He also told us about the geology and fauna of the island as we hiked around and visited the Queen’s Bath and other tide pools which we had all to ourselves at that hour. When we returned to the canoe, Wailea, one of the endangered resident Hawaiian Monk seals was sleeping right by our canoe. What a treat! As if that weren’t enough, we also enjoyed catching a couple of waves during this tour for a bit of an adrenaline rush.
It was a perfect morning. Great tour full of beautiful sights and a good morning workout. Highly recommend!
