We did the 6 hour "off the beaten path" hike and our guide Jen was amazing. She was very knowledgeable and made the hike lots of fun. She kept a good pace that I was able to keep up with. She gave us alot of history of the Smoky mountains and all the wildlife and plants in the area. We will definitely use them again when we return.

We split our group between two trails (see title). I went on the shorter walk with other adults and a few small children. It was a good experience. Our guide was VERY knowledgeable. It was great to get some history to the Smokies and have someone who could show us some things that we wouldn't have otherwise been privy too. I think the overall experience was okay but that is not at any fault of the company. Doing the hikes with 3 four year olds and 2 two year olds was just overall a difficulty thing to get through. We did bring a stroller with us on the Stroll Back in Time and make out okay. We saved a lot of money because we booked as a group but I wouldn't pay the full price listed on the website.

I planned a hike up Mt. LeConte as part of a bucket list activity for myself. I searched for some hiking groups to join but was unsuccessful. Fortunately, someone recommended A Walk in the Woods to me on a Facebook group that I belong to. I booked a Mt Leconte day hike to coincide with the family vacation. Everything was set up online, and they sent an email with all of the info/directions. The hike was set for July 27, 2017. The morning of the hike I met my guide Blue at the visitors center. After a safety briefing, we headed to the Alum Cave trailhead. Blue and I went at a leisurely pace, resting when needed and enjoyed conversation. We arrived at Mt. LeConte in about three hours. My guide, Blue, is a true ambassador of the Great Smoky Mts. I thought I knew about the mountains and nature, but he actually lives it! Plants, rocks, animals, conservation, this guy knows his stuff. I was truly impressed and appreciated everything he shared with me. I have a newfound admiration for the Smokies now. Simply stated, the world needs more people like Blue. A kind, nature loving guy that is enjoying the journey of life. If you are curious or half way interested in A Walk in the Woods, I would say DO IT! It is well worth the money and an experience I will never forget.
