This was an enjoyable little trip. Frankly, I was expecting more from Chelsea Market, although, it was quite interesting and it was nice to wander around. The guide indicated that there were three floors to the market and we failed to find the third, being told by the security guys that there were only two floors open to the public. The history of the place as explained by the guide was interesting. The High Line and its development as a garden is fascinating. You get better light but in winter it is very cold. Make sure you come prepared for cold winds! The gardens in early winter show lots of autumnal colours but I guess in spring, they are amazing. There are good views from the High Line out to the Statue of Liberty etc. The guide gave lots of insight into the history of Chelsea and Meatpackers. It was interesting. I suspect that some of her historical explanations were off the mark (Titanic sinking by the stern for example) - but that did not detract from an enjoyable trip - the guide pointed us to an excellent mexican restaurant where we warmed up afterwards.
