Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

We did a small group tour with Bill a couple of days ago and he was brilliant! Sure, most tour guides know their stuff (one would hope) and their talks are usually full of entertaining and gossipy bits of information that are fun, but thatā€™s not what Bill offered. He offered us a brief, focussed, opinionated history of economics, class clashes and the civil war over a brief hour and a half. Bill isnā€™t just a tour guide. He is a true historian with a talent for communicating what he knows. He didnā€™t just want us to walk off with some fun little tidbits, he wanted us to leave with at least some understanding of the place. That makes him A true teacher in the very best sense of the word.

We really enjoyed the opportunity to look at the architecture of the houses rather than viewing historical sights. We were a small group and our guide gave us this choice. Loved it. He narrated with lots of fun historical facts, a few personal stories and was willing to answer all my questions with facts and his personal ideas, which was fine with me. We had a fabulous lunch at a restaurant he pointed out on our walk; would never have found it otherwise. We were making an unplanned overnight in Charleston, and never having been there before, my appetite has been whetted. I will absolutely go back to this friendly, charming city and I will definitely do another Highlights of Charleston Walking Tour through Oyster Point Tours.

Reliability is important and timing of cancelling the tour. To call up 2 hours before to cancel the 1130 4th of feb tour with such really late notice. Good thing there are other tours rated 5 which are available. Itā€™s a real shame as we looking forward to this tour
