Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

I attended USC and so am somewhat familiar with Charleston, and have completed a few historic walking tours as well as a horse/buggy tour. I discovered Oyster Point from a Southern Living city guide, and WE LOVED IT!! First, it's a reasonable $20/per person. They offer 3 times throughout the day and booking online is breeze. My husband and I booked a Monday at 11:30am and were paired with one other couple. Palmer was our tour guide and she was awesome!! She kept it interesting, asking us questions and quizzing us on a few points of note, offering to take photos of us along the route, etc. The pace was easy, steady and she even builds in a bathroom stop. Palmer was extremely knowledgeable about the beautiful city and clearly enjoys her job. We brought some extra cash for a tip, too. We would recommend this tour and even do it again the next time we are in town! :) Thank you! (NOTE: speaking from experience, the horse/buggy tours are hot and cramped, and you cannot pick your own route--save yourself and take this easy-paced walking tour by Oyster Point!)

Our tour was led by Palmer, and it was very worth it. She was really informative and fun, weaving in colonial through modern history as we saw the sights. There is a lot to see in Charleston, but I think we saw the most important things in the historic district in about 2 - 2:30 hours. Palmer also gave me great recommendations for what else I could see in my time there. Highly recommended!
