Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

My wife and I booked this tour for the first morning of our visit to Charleston. This proved to be a great decision and really helped set the tone for our trip. We feel very fortunate to have been paired with Palmer. It was amazing how much history she knew and was able to share with us in a couple of hours. Even though it was just us, we never felt she rushed through any of the sites we visited. Palmer was thorough, professional, and a lot of fun! She always took time to answer any questions and gave some great advice on how to spend some of our remaining time in Charleston. If you are visiting Charleston, we would highly recommend booking a tour with Palmer to start your visit!

This walking tour is a great bargain at $20 pp. Palmer was excellent and fun. I have done several Charleston carriage tours and this gives a different perspective. Had a drink at High Cotton prior to the tour. A very pleasant day!

William Harris was our guide for a two hour walk which brought Charlestonā€™s history to life. This was not a tour of looking at pretty houses and numerous churches (these are there) but of how Charleston really developed in the 18th /19th centuries. You come away with some real knowledge and understanding of why/how this city has grown and the power it had in the wider US at this time. Bill is passionate and knowledgeable about the subject and area. The walk takes in many interesting sites which would be undiscovered without such an informative guide.
