Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

We have taken several walking tours in Charleston on different visits. This is by the far the most professional tour. The guide, Mr. Bill Harris, is a true historian. He conducted a factual and informative tour. We highly recommend him and his company for a walking tour of Charleston. Melinda and Lee Poe

If you're thinking of taking a walking tour of Charleston (or even if you aren't), you MUST take the Highlights of Charleston tour with Palmer. We actually booked this tour the night before on a whim and I am so glad we did! The tour lasted about 2 hours, but the time flew by. I honestly could've listened to Palmer talk about Charleston (or really anything) all day! From the start I could tell this would be a great tour, as she was incredibly personable and friendly, engaging each member of the group and asking where we were from, what we were interested in learning about, our plans in Charleston, etc. Once the tour got started, she was so informative and really made the history come to life. You could tell from her enthusiasm and knowledge of the material that she loves the city she lives in and really did her research to give her groups an unforgettable experience. I learned so much about Charleston's history and architecture that I hadn't known before I came, and covered a ton of ground along the way. Take this tour!

Great walking tour. Bill is a very knowledgeable and entertaining guide. We learned a lot about the enslaved people of Charleston, the Denmark Vesey rebellion, the old slave Mary on Chalmers, etc. We went inside St. Phillips church and the Dock Street theater. Terrific tour.
