Hike Honolua Ridgeline

Overview
There is no other tour experience like this on Maui. You will get to see first hand what a working conservation team does on a daily basis and why it is so important. We go into forest that contains endangered and indigenous plants and animals that visitors wouldn't be able to easily see otherwise. Most of the Mountain areas on Maui are privately owned with restricted access. This tour gives you the access.

This was a very informative and refreshing tour! It's great to see that there are things being done about preserving the beauty that did and does make Maui a paradise. Kevin was very knowledgeable, easy going and had a sense of humor. I recommend coming to enjoy the scenery but also to learn about the importance of preserving native species. To ensure the best ecosystem for the mountain and ocean.

My family (me, wife, 13 yo son and 12 yo daughter) went on this tour/hike with Kevin. My kids insisted that I write this review because they loved it so much. My wife and I did too. Kevin was informative, entertaining, and personable. We learned so much about the Maui watershed and how connected it is to the island. The hike was not strenuous but the views of the valleys and the shoreline from the top of the ridge line was stunning. Truly what I envisioned when I think of Maui and no other view while we were in Maui matched it. I don’t think any other tour can provide this view as the hike includes access through privately owned land. If you are on the west side of Maui (we were in Kaanapali), take this tour. It is nothing like anything else you will do here.

My wife and I along with a group of friends from Texas recently joined Kevin on his excellent Helewai hiking and cultural experience in stunning Kapalua. Personally, I have always been absolutely mesmerized by the lush mountain slopes of Mauna Kahalawai and I was thrilled when this opportunity arose to get as close as possible on foot to the various pu'u (mountain tops) in West Maui. Kevin is the consummate professional and host of this incredibly special opportunity to visit and learn about these sacred and vitally important lands. He is the perfect person to do so as he is a funny and very personable guy who was born and raised on Maui. Before the hike, we spent some time at the Kapalua baseyard learning about the Pu'u Kukui Watershed and how important it is on so many different levels for both native species and all those who enjoy Maui. Kevin let us know what to expect and got us excited about our adventure. The views from various different locations on the hike are spectacular! Kevin will be sure to educate you about all of the plants and animals that you see along the way. His story that he shares about the Ohia Lehua tree is beautiful and we greatly enjoyed learning about this. He has very comfortable accommodations to take you and from to the site of the hike.Ā  Overall, I would highly recommend joining Kevin on Helewai because this is a guided hiking experience to an area on Maui where no other access is really permitted and he does a great job of bringing it all together in a fun, culturally sensitive and educational manner.Ā Ā  --Ā
