What To Expect
1
Banyan Drive
Our first path drives us down Banyan Drive known as the "Hilo Walk of Fame" for the banyan trees planted by celebrities, such as Babe Ruth and Franklin Roosevelt and many others. These trees have withstood several tsunamis that have devastated the town of Hilo
2
Liliuokalani Gardens
This is the largest Japanese garden outside of Japan donated by Queen LiliŹ»uokalani in 1917. Throughout the gardens are stone lanterns, gazebos, and torii gates, recalling the Japanese immigrants who came to Hawaii.
3
Rainbow Falls
breathtaking 80 ft waterfall, Rainbow Falls. These beautiful falls get their name from the rainbow that is often visible in the mist that rises as the water cascades to the rocks 80 feet below.
4
Big Island Candies
Big Island Candies was established in 1977 to manufacture and market fine quality macadamia nut candies and cookies using 100 percent Hawaii-grown macadamia nuts and Kona coffee, island eggs, real butter, and high-grade chocolate. Since its founding, Big Island Candies has continuously introduced new and imaginative products that "wow" both the eyes and taste buds of its growing legion of fans.
5
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
We will then make our way to the summit of Kilauea volcano at the Volcanoes National Park, the most highly regarded and revered volcanic area on Earth. The Park highlights two of the world's most active volcanoes--Kilauea and Mauna Loa--and offers insights on the birth of the Hawaiian Islands and views of dramatic volcanic landscapes. At the park, you will stop at the Visitor Center, witness the spectacular collapsed caldera, steam vents, sulfur banks, and fascinating scenic lookouts. No trip to Hawaii is complete without a trip to Volcanoes National Park.
6
Nahuku - Thurston Lava Tube
We will walk through a lava tube and the guide will share information with you on how it was formed by lava. This lava tube is .4 of a mile loop trail with low lighting. Gradual stairs descending into the tube ascending stairs coming out. Not all passengers may be physically fit in which they may stay in the vehicle or outside natural scenery for this portion of the tour.
7
Richardson Beach Park
Richardson Black Sand Beach, where sea turtles are usually spotted. The Black Sand Beach is a local favorite, and is a great way to see how the ocean and volcanoes make fine black sand.

OK let me start with this was our first to Hawaii. EVER. Yea waited way too long. But anyway Hilo, HI was the garden spot, and we had such a great time on this tour. Edmond is the BEST. We learned a LOT about the Island's Volcano Activity history and saw many wonderful sights on this great day long tour. We were picked up at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel, which I highly recommend, right on time and explored the nearby Japanese inspired garden, which we didnā€™t know was right next door. LOL. The lunch spot where we grabbed Sammies was spot on and well organized by a local friendly store. Edmond took us up to various points at the National Volcano Park and we had plenty of time to see the sights. I was super excited the Lava tube had reopened, and we were allowed inside. As a bonus on the way back there was a fun surprise stop that I wonā€™t ruin, but everyone thought it was a great way to end the day. ! Edmond also gave the names of some local places to eat that were amazing! I would book with these guys every time Aloha!!

We used this company for three tours while on a Pride of America cruise, Maui, Hilo and Kona. They are much less money than the ship tours, and offer friendly, personal service. James in Maui drove us on a private tour, which was the highlight of our trip. He was so much fun, knowledgable and well tavelled. He customized our day towards our interests and needs (husband is in wheelchair). Edmond drove a small group in both Hilo and Kona. He had lots of interesting stories and information. Lunch stops were at small local, family owned eateries. I would 100% recommend C Big Island to anyone wishing to avoid the big crowds, and experience Hawaii from a local. The communication with the office while arranging these excursions were prompt and friendly, yet professional. Thank you so much.
