What To Expect
1
Banyan Drive
Our first path drives us down Banyan Drive known as the "Hilo Walk of Fame" for the banyan trees planted by celebrities, such as Babe Ruth and Franklin Roosevelt and many others. These trees have withstood several tsunamis that have devastated the town of Hilo
2
Liliuokalani Gardens
This is the largest Japanese garden outside of Japan donated by Queen LiliŹ»uokalani in 1917. Throughout the gardens are stone lanterns, gazebos, and torii gates, recalling the Japanese immigrants who came to Hawaii.
3
Rainbow Falls
breathtaking 80 ft waterfall, Rainbow Falls. These beautiful falls get their name from the rainbow that is often visible in the mist that rises as the water cascades to the rocks 80 feet below.
4
Big Island Candies
Big Island Candies was established in 1977 to manufacture and market fine quality macadamia nut candies and cookies using 100 percent Hawaii-grown macadamia nuts and Kona coffee, island eggs, real butter, and high-grade chocolate. Since its founding, Big Island Candies has continuously introduced new and imaginative products that "wow" both the eyes and taste buds of its growing legion of fans.
5
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
We will then make our way to the summit of Kilauea volcano at the Volcanoes National Park, the most highly regarded and revered volcanic area on Earth. The Park highlights two of the world's most active volcanoes--Kilauea and Mauna Loa--and offers insights on the birth of the Hawaiian Islands and views of dramatic volcanic landscapes. At the park, you will stop at the Visitor Center, witness the spectacular collapsed caldera, steam vents, sulfur banks, and fascinating scenic lookouts. No trip to Hawaii is complete without a trip to Volcanoes National Park.
6
Nahuku - Thurston Lava Tube
We will walk through a lava tube and the guide will share information with you on how it was formed by lava. This lava tube is .4 of a mile loop trail with low lighting. Gradual stairs descending into the tube ascending stairs coming out. Not all passengers may be physically fit in which they may stay in the vehicle or outside natural scenery for this portion of the tour.
7
Richardson Beach Park
Richardson Black Sand Beach, where sea turtles are usually spotted. The Black Sand Beach is a local favorite, and is a great way to see how the ocean and volcanoes make fine black sand.

We had a group of 12. We enjoyed a great day seeing the volcano national park and waterfalls. Walk through the wet lava tube. Your shoes may get wet, come prepared. We had requested Edmund as our tour guide. We were so very lucky to get him for two days as our guide. The second day we did the Kona coffee and chocolate tour. Walk through the dry lava tube here. He was able to give us alot of information about the big island. We certainly enjoyed both tours on the big island. I would highly recommend C Big Island tours. Ask for Edmund, he made the days alot of fun and interesting!

Tour was unorganized from the beginning. Had Tourguide Chris who seemed to be confused and shared just a little information about the national park etc. Once you got to a spot he told the guests how much time they have, rush, take quick photo and get back in the van. Other tourguides guided the guests and shared so much information so we sometimes sticked to other tour guides during the stops just to gather information.
This tours was just hop ond hof off take picture tour with no cultural, emotional or informative character. Not worth the money. Maybe Chris was the wrong guide and other guide of same company would have done it better.

TOUR OPERATOR COMMENT: Thank you for your feedback. Please note, this was our guide, Chris', first day of touring with customers. Although he received full training, he was still a bit nervous. We're sorry to hear this affected your overall enjoyment of the tour but hope you still had a good time in Hawaii.

When we could not get on the ship's excursion, we researched others for Hilo, and found this one with C Big Island Tours. It was great. Our driver/guide, Paul, was wonderful. His insights, his information, his sharing, his singing (yes, he led us in the C & H Sugar Song, new to most of us, and of course in Tiny Bubbles). This tour was everything we wanted and more. Great time at nut farm, orchid greenhouses, volcano caldera, and lava hole. Then, as an extra treat, Paul stopped at a black sand beach, where we roamed in the sand and rocks and waves looking for turtles. Perfect end to the tour. Would recommend this to anyone.
