What To Expect
1
Banyan Drive
Our first path drives us down Banyan Drive known as the "Hilo Walk of Fame" for the banyan trees planted by celebrities, such as Babe Ruth and Franklin Roosevelt and many others. These trees have withstood several tsunamis that have devastated the town of Hilo
2
Liliuokalani Gardens
This is the largest Japanese garden outside of Japan donated by Queen LiliŹ»uokalani in 1917. Throughout the gardens are stone lanterns, gazebos, and torii gates, recalling the Japanese immigrants who came to Hawaii.
3
Rainbow Falls
breathtaking 80 ft waterfall, Rainbow Falls. These beautiful falls get their name from the rainbow that is often visible in the mist that rises as the water cascades to the rocks 80 feet below.
4
Big Island Candies
Big Island Candies was established in 1977 to manufacture and market fine quality macadamia nut candies and cookies using 100 percent Hawaii-grown macadamia nuts and Kona coffee, island eggs, real butter, and high-grade chocolate. Since its founding, Big Island Candies has continuously introduced new and imaginative products that "wow" both the eyes and taste buds of its growing legion of fans.
5
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
We will then make our way to the summit of Kilauea volcano at the Volcanoes National Park, the most highly regarded and revered volcanic area on Earth. The Park highlights two of the world's most active volcanoes--Kilauea and Mauna Loa--and offers insights on the birth of the Hawaiian Islands and views of dramatic volcanic landscapes. At the park, you will stop at the Visitor Center, witness the spectacular collapsed caldera, steam vents, sulfur banks, and fascinating scenic lookouts. No trip to Hawaii is complete without a trip to Volcanoes National Park.
6
Nahuku - Thurston Lava Tube
We will walk through a lava tube and the guide will share information with you on how it was formed by lava. This lava tube is .4 of a mile loop trail with low lighting. Gradual stairs descending into the tube ascending stairs coming out. Not all passengers may be physically fit in which they may stay in the vehicle or outside natural scenery for this portion of the tour.
7
Richardson Beach Park
Richardson Black Sand Beach, where sea turtles are usually spotted. The Black Sand Beach is a local favorite, and is a great way to see how the ocean and volcanoes make fine black sand.

Our guide Edmond was terrific, very pleasant and knowledgeable. Even when the bus had a flat tire, he handled the stressful situation as best as he could and managed to take us to all the attractions before our cruise left the port. He deserved a thumbs up!

Our Hilo excusion was fabulous. We were met by our guide Edmund at the ship's port who escorted our small group to his air conditioned van. He shared the history of the island with us as we drove to Volcanoes National Park and Rainbow Falls. The walk through the lava tube was very interesting. Stops along the tour included a macadamia nut farm, orchid farm and various other sites of interest. Edmund was extremely helpful with recommendations and shared his wealth of knowledge with us. He was an excellent guide with us being a small group. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Hilo for the first time. Well done!

We bought the Exclusive Volcanos National Park Tour. We were SUPPOSED to see volcanos, hot lava, sulfur vents, lava tubes, WE SAW NONE OF THAT. When we arrived in Hilo there were occasional rain showers, so our tour guide thought that it wasnā€™t a good day to see the volcanoes, he didnā€™t even ask the customers opinion, he just took us to some local spots, most of which were totally unimpressive. A macadamia nut farm? REALLY? We didnā€™t sign up for that! He brought us to some farm that produced nasty tasting fruit, a Painted Church, a tiny beach, THATS NOT WHAT I BOUGHT, but they forced it on us. The closest thing to anything having to do with a volcano was an old lava flow, thatā€™s something I guess. C Big Tours sucked! We took ten tours on our 28 day cruise, but this is the only one that Iā€™m dissatisfied with.

Aloha, sorry to hear you were unhappy. Please note the steam vents and lava tubes you went through were part of the volcano sights. The macadamia nut farm is often requested and is also our lunch stop. We do not advertise molten lava on this tour as it can only be seen by our lava hike or lava boat ( not always available to cruise ship passengers)
