This cruise was a birthday gift and I waited a while to use it. My mom and I finally had the chance to go in November and it was a very memorable trip.
The captain and first mate were very personable, knowledgeable and really seemed to enjoy their jobs. We boarded the ship, and sat on the lower deck, at the back where there are some cushioned back rests. There is an upper deck with benches that is fully exposed along with seating at the front of the boat. In the middle of the lower deck is an enclosed room with tables, chairs and a refreshment area. If you go in the cooler months, wear a hood and a windproof coat. It gets chilly on the water.
It wasn't long before we saw our first dolphin. The captain was great about pointing them out and steering the ship so that everyone on board got a chance to view them. Eventually we moved out farther into the sound and saw several pods on our cruise. They were beautiful to watch and even played close to the ship on the waves from the wake. I would highly recommend this cruise.
A few things to note...
*The cruise sets sail from a private community called Sea Pines. You have to pay the cordial armed guards $8/ per car to get into the community. This place is the epitome of the 1%, but you have to enter this area to get to the cruise. It literally has a "Yacht Basin" that is loaded with yachts. I've never seen so many yachts.
*The benches are not bolted down so be cautious when moving about the ship. The benches can change into a table with seating or they can be moved to accommodate different activities so they do not bolt them down. This was not an issue for me, and they will go over it during the safety briefing, still please be aware.
*Did I mention the water was cold in November? Seriously, bring warm clothes if you go in the fall.
