Come join the crew aboard the Tammy Jane for a 2-hour educational and picturesque low-country experience as we take you out Shrimping! We invite you to learn about our healthy salt marsh environment, and introduce you to some of the sea creatures we'll safely pull up in our nets (in addition to shrimp!).

We will explore how various ecosystems intertwine to create the rich food web that provides food for our tables.

This is a unique opportunity for guests of all ages! If we do catch shrimp aboard an expedition the crew will package some up for guests to take home.

What To Expect

Vagabond Cruise

Aboard this two hour excursion you will explore how various ecosystems intertwine to create the rich food web that provides food for our tables.This is a unique opportunity for guests of all ages! If we do catch shrimp aboard an expedition the crew will package some up for guests to take home. All excursions depart from Harbour Town Yacht Basin within the Sea Pines Resort. There is a $9.00 per vehicle entry fee for the Sea Pines Resort that must be paid in cash. This gate pass is valid for the entire day, so make the most out of the Sea Pines Resort. Check-in for your Shrimp Trawl aboard the Tammy Jane will be at the Vagabond Cruise reservation office which is located just to the right of the Harbour Town Lighthouse. One of the most memorable family activity! We love shrimp and this was a great trip. Heard the story of Hilton island. When the shrimps were caught Captain Spike went through the pile and explained all the different types of fish that was also caught. Good to see they threw back into ocean and didn’t let them suffer out of water too much Kids were able to touch the starfish that was caught in trap. Shrimp gets divided by groups , so if u have a group of 6+ you get the same baggie amount as the group of 2 ppl. Guess it just makes it easier to divide them quickly Also can purchase refreshments on boat, bc it can get pretty hot especially waiting for the trip to start.

Nice time on the water. Interesting to learn how to take the head off the shrimp and see the other catch. Dolphins around the boat was great!!!

Great tour. The captain and first mate were very knowledgeable and engaging. We saw dolphin and did catch some shrimp! Best part was after they brought the nets up, explaining all the creatures (starfish, baby sharks, squid) and letting us touch the sharks and hold the squids and starfish. Then we got to 'pop' the shrimp. This tour is great for ages 5 and over. The littler ones may get bored trolling, and it was hot going w/ the wind.
