Come join the crew aboard the Tammy Jane for a 2-hour educational and picturesque low-country experience as we take you out Shrimping! We invite you to learn about our healthy salt marsh environment, and introduce you to some of the sea creatures we'll safely pull up in our nets (in addition to shrimp!).

We will explore how various ecosystems intertwine to create the rich food web that provides food for our tables.

This is a unique opportunity for guests of all ages! If we do catch shrimp aboard an expedition the crew will package some up for guests to take home.

What To Expect

Vagabond Cruise

Aboard this two hour excursion you will explore how various ecosystems intertwine to create the rich food web that provides food for our tables.This is a unique opportunity for guests of all ages! If we do catch shrimp aboard an expedition the crew will package some up for guests to take home. All excursions depart from Harbour Town Yacht Basin within the Sea Pines Resort. There is a $9.00 per vehicle entry fee for the Sea Pines Resort that must be paid in cash. This gate pass is valid for the entire day, so make the most out of the Sea Pines Resort. Check-in for your Shrimp Trawl aboard the Tammy Jane will be at the Vagabond Cruise reservation office which is located just to the right of the Harbour Town Lighthouse. We took the afternoon shrimping cruise. The staff was very knowledgeable and the dolphins were awesome!! We did get a little bored while the boat was trawling the shrimp grounds but that was very short lived! The dolphins soon started following the net and before we knew it they were pulling it in and then it was time to pop the heads!!! Plus the extra sea life pulled in was pretty cool!!! Lots of starfish Capt Spike passed around to everyone. Plus Lauren and her mate helped him sort and we all got a chance to toss extra fish, sting Ray, crabs, and squid to the birds then it was time to prep the shrimp! All in all we really enjoyed the cruise to just off the shore of Daufuskie, the sea life, tons of dolphin sightings, and trying our hand at “shrimpin’”. This was a very nice 2 hour cruise that I am sure my teens will remember for a long time!

Our shrimping experience was canceled due to Hurricane Elsa. While disappointing, the staff was so professional about keeping in touch and finally refunding our money. We would definitely try again!

Loved the dolphins following the boat. Great trip! Staff was great! Very knowledgeable staff. Boat was really nice as well. Brought the shrimp from catch home.
