Come join the crew aboard the Tammy Jane for a 2-hour educational and picturesque low-country experience as we take you out Shrimping! We invite you to learn about our healthy salt marsh environment, and introduce you to some of the sea creatures we'll safely pull up in our nets (in addition to shrimp!).

We will explore how various ecosystems intertwine to create the rich food web that provides food for our tables.

This is a unique opportunity for guests of all ages! If we do catch shrimp aboard an expedition the crew will package some up for guests to take home.

What To Expect

Vagabond Cruise

Aboard this two hour excursion you will explore how various ecosystems intertwine to create the rich food web that provides food for our tables.This is a unique opportunity for guests of all ages! If we do catch shrimp aboard an expedition the crew will package some up for guests to take home. All excursions depart from Harbour Town Yacht Basin within the Sea Pines Resort. There is a $9.00 per vehicle entry fee for the Sea Pines Resort that must be paid in cash. This gate pass is valid for the entire day, so make the most out of the Sea Pines Resort. Check-in for your Shrimp Trawl aboard the Tammy Jane will be at the Vagabond Cruise reservation office which is located just to the right of the Harbour Town Lighthouse. This is a great trip to learn about the shrimping industry from a smaller tourist type boat. This was a plus for me because I get seasick on large vessels that go out into the ocean. We went out of the marina and into the main channel to trawl our way back and dump the "haul" at the end of the trawling. The net caught all kinds of interesting sea life. Small flounder, crabs and jelly fish (the non stinging type and we got to hold it). All patrons wore their masks as well as the tour guide. This trip was well worth the money!

This trip exceeded my expectations! Very fun and educational. Also, everyone wore masks and we felt like it was a safe outing despite the pandemic. I was a little worried about getting seasick but I didn't even come close! The trip was relaxing. We didn't catch a lot of shrimp, maybe 15 pounds but that was fine. Caught tiny flounder, crabs and jellyfish too! Fun to see.

We had a Blast! Saw Dolphins when on the way out to shrimp fish and even got to take the shrimp home to eat later. Boat left on time, and Spikes a great captain!
