Took our 14 year old and our 12 year old on the Shrimp Trawling boat to learn more about the island, the sea life and the shrimping industry and we literally sat on a boat with no interaction for over 90 minutes. Our kids have been scalloping, lobstering, mackerel fishing, deep sea fishing, whale watching and on other types of boats to see and learn about the area, all of these other companies have provided interesting information about the area. This trip could have been so much more and enjoyable if the Captain Spike who only said a few safety statements at the beginning of the trip or the assistant, Carrie were more knowledgeable and engagable. We could have discussed the history of Hilton Head Island or the surrounding islands, the types of turtles, dolphins or fish found in the sound, the shrimping industry, the change of the tides, the building of the lighthouse, anything....instead the entire boat sat in silence. I was also horrified at the amount of fish and sea creatures (2 baby sharks, 2 stingrays, and some squid) that were not immediately thrown back and left to die on the sorting table. Overall, a disappointment and poor experience.
