Come join the crew aboard the Tammy Jane for a 2-hour educational and picturesque low-country experience as we take you out Shrimping! We invite you to learn about our healthy salt marsh environment, and introduce you to some of the sea creatures we'll safely pull up in our nets (in addition to shrimp!).

We will explore how various ecosystems intertwine to create the rich food web that provides food for our tables.

This is a unique opportunity for guests of all ages! If we do catch shrimp aboard an expedition the crew will package some up for guests to take home.

What To Expect

Vagabond Cruise

Aboard this two hour excursion you will explore how various ecosystems intertwine to create the rich food web that provides food for our tables.This is a unique opportunity for guests of all ages! If we do catch shrimp aboard an expedition the crew will package some up for guests to take home. All excursions depart from Harbour Town Yacht Basin within the Sea Pines Resort. There is a $9.00 per vehicle entry fee for the Sea Pines Resort that must be paid in cash. This gate pass is valid for the entire day, so make the most out of the Sea Pines Resort. Check-in for your Shrimp Trawl aboard the Tammy Jane will be at the Vagabond Cruise reservation office which is located just to the right of the Harbour Town Lighthouse. The Tammy Jane is also available for private charters for up to 30-passengers. If you would like more information about this opportunity please reach out to Vagabond Cruise directly.

We were scheduled and got cancelled twice, but we finally got to go out on the Tammy Jane with Spike and Ricky shrimping. We were unsure what to expect, seeing it on TV and being on the boat is different. We had a wonderful experience, both Spike and Ricky were friendly, answered questions and professional. We will definitely do this again when we are back in Hilton Head and bring friends! I got to hold a Skate!!! The interaction with the marine life was amazing, best part for me! Thanks Spike and Ricky!!!

This was a fun way to spend the afternoon! Spike, Ricky, & Tiffany were a great team that made the trip insightful and relaxing. We learned about shrimping beds and their method to catch. I would say it's more of a 12+ or adult geared cruise because the children on board were bored and restless to say the least. Still towards the end when we brought in the catch, everyone got hands on sorting the by-catch, learning about local bait, and learning the regional way to devein/behead shrimp. While it was a fully booked excursion Ricky made sure every interested party had a cut. It was a great way to spend a few hours, that I look forward to repeating in the future!

We had such a great time on the Tammy Jane! Ricky and the rest of the crew were so knowledgeable, personable, and friendly. My two and four year old had a blast! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something fun and different to do while in Hilton Head.
