I specifically chose this tour to learn about slavery (as stated in the title) but sadly the guide provided no information about the dark chapter. The guide was knowledgeable about the civil war dates and history of houses built by slave owners (only acknowledged as planters with no hint of their immense wealth made using slave labor). I wanted an understanding of the authentic history but this tour does not provide that aspect. Luckily, I did find another tour that provided a balanced overview of Charleston's history.

I wish I had known Susan wanted to know about slavery. The stories about slaves that became free and went on to be very successful against unbelieveable odds are my favorite. I will be sure to include some of those stories in all of my tours going forward.

Mike provided an detailed history of Charleston both past and present. Gained by being a long time resident knowing many of the important families who descended through Charleston we learned a lot of background information. Additionally, a detailed history of where the civil war started. You will not be rushed through in big crowds , this should be a must on your list of tours.
