Historic Old Louisville Walking Tour

Overview
The Historic Old Louisville Walking Tour is a guided tour of the heart of the Victorian Mansion district in Old Louisville. Designed by a prominent local architect and historian, this tour focuses on the history and architecture of this nationally recognized historic preservation district boasting the largest collection of Victorian Mansions in the United States. The tour begins in the comfortable, Frederick Law Olmsted designed Visitors Center in Central Park. You are guided through iconic St. James and Belgravia Courts, then proceed along South Fourth Street, Ormsby Avenue, and the grand boulevard Third Street, which was known as Millionaire's Row in the 1890s. Then you are led back to the starting point.
All proceeds from the Historic Old Louisville Walking Tour support the work of the Old Louisville Neighborhood Council, a nonprofit organization that serves as an advocate for the community and works for historic preservation.

Our group was small and our tour guide was excellent. She was knowledgeable about the area and answered every question thoroughly. It was a very good tour.

We booked a walking tour and your representative kindly took all my information and my money and when we got there the following day there was no tour given that day. We have had a hell of a time trying to get a hold of somebody to get her money back.

Just for clarification. The tour guide was onsite and waited about 5 minutes past the 1:30 pm time slot for your group to arrive. When it did not the guide started the tour with other paying attendees. We are sorry you had difficulty, but this is not a "private" tour. We have to accommodate all of our paying guests in a timely manner and stay on schedule. We will gladly refund your tickets.

This personal and engaging tour comes with a 50-page guide book with maps and photos. The area you are in was the 1883-1887 Southern Exposition. The houses come is a wide variety of styles but the surprise of the tour is the elegant St. James Court and the equally elegant Belgravia Court. The houses here face a gardened esplanade with sidewalks. It is one of the loveliest "developments" one will ever see. Our tour guide was excellent; a one hour tour became two. Be aware: This is NOT the Louisville Visitor Center. This hard to find place is IN Central Park. Don't rely on GPS. The tour begins at a building near the tennis courts.
