Historic Old Louisville Walking Tour

Overview
The Historic Old Louisville Walking Tour is a guided tour of the heart of the Victorian Mansion district in Old Louisville. Designed by a prominent local architect and historian, this tour focuses on the history and architecture of this nationally recognized historic preservation district boasting the largest collection of Victorian Mansions in the United States. The tour begins in the comfortable, Frederick Law Olmsted designed Visitors Center in Central Park. You are guided through iconic St. James and Belgravia Courts, then proceed along South Fourth Street, Ormsby Avenue, and the grand boulevard Third Street, which was known as Millionaire's Row in the 1890s. Then you are led back to the starting point.
All proceeds from the Historic Old Louisville Walking Tour support the work of the Old Louisville Neighborhood Council, a nonprofit organization that serves as an advocate for the community and works for historic preservation.

We really enjoyed our recent trip to Louisville - which started off with this walking tour. Lots of history and beautiful architecture. Our tour guide was absolutely wonderful! She was very friendly, and full of knowledge. Be aware that the Google Maps directions are wrong. We just happened to catch the tour as they were walking by - our directions took us to the wrong side of the street. The visitors center is located in the back corner of Central Park, near the police station. This is where the tour officially starts. Also, be sure and stop in the Visitors Center to purchase a book about Belgravia.

Kelly led our tour. She was very welcoming and knowledgeable about the houses and the time period. The walk was about an hour and well worth the time and money! If you love Victorian architecture, youā€™ll love the wonderful variety here. FYI: parking is on the streets and free. The Old Louisville Building where the tour starts is behind the Police Station! Do this tour!
