This was a great experience. It was about a 45 minute bus drive in picking up all the customers from the several hotels in Waikaloa. We went to Kona. We met at 2 PM, and there was a bit too much down time in the wait. I would say we got on the boat about 345. Once we were on, and settled, we were quickly served with very nice adult beverages. There was not shortage of the drinks and the seconds were offered promptly as the firsts were finished.
We were introduced to the cruise and discovered two wonderful surprises. There was a historian onboard who provided wonderful stories about the island as we meandered south and toward the Captain Cook monument. Her stories and voice were captivating and wonderful Meanwhile the drinks came coming also adding to the enjoyment of her stories. They were very smart in that she stopped her stories for awhile say for ten minutes or so and thlen on for five to ten. In that way her stories were textured and appreciated rather than a total lecture.
Then the dinner came. We started with a very good salid. We then were served a super short ribe entree with garnish, potatoes and carrots. The dessert was topped off with excellent cheesecake and sauce. I n our opinion, the quality of the food was as good a you would get in any cruise such as this. The history and stories of the food was awesom as well.
The Captain made sure that we got a great angle of the sunset. Another surprise awaited us at the Captain Cook Monument. All of a sudden, we sighted dozed of dolphins, who trailed us, played and jumped all around. The Captain hung around the and it was quite the show.
The return trip was during dusk and the early darkness and was punctuated by the eruption of the Mauna Loa volcano.
I highly recommend.

Aloha dough691,
It was so delightful to read that you enjoyed your experience on the Historical Sunset Dinner Cruise! Thank you for taking the time to leave a five star review; we are honored!
We love reading that your cruise was wonderful! Learning that your meal, the narration, dolphin sightings and of course volcano glow were highlights truly is a treat! Thank you so much for sharing!
Some clarification is appropriate here regarding the ground transportation. Body Glove Cruises does not provide ground transportation to our ocean adventures. We depart from the Kailua Kona Pier and have free parking available at our Retail Store in the Illima Court Shopping Center about a block and 1/2 walk from the pier. For our valued readers dough691 joined us with a group that arranges its reservations and separate ground transportation through the Hilton Grand Adventure group. We are very honored to have the Hilton Grand Adventure group join us on Tuesday nights! Because the HUA group consists of 40 plus guests who travel on a single prearranged motor coach there are some ground transportation logistics that must take place to arrive on-time for our 4:00 pm departure.
