After going to school in Eau Claire for the past four years, I have fallen in love with this city. Taking this tour was a great way to learn about the history that had been surrounding me the whole time. Fantastic to listen to while going for an evening stroll downtown. Plus, I can't wait to use the included vendor discounts! Overall, this tour is well worth the small fee to purchase it! Would recommend to anyone looking for something new to do around town!

Although I have lived within 25-miles of Eau Claire for the past 25 years, I was not aware of the rich history of the city. The self-guided audio walking tour along the river and through historic downtown Eau Claire is informative, interesting, and presented in a manner that made the walk enjoyable. The first half of the self-guided walking tour takes you along the confluence of the Eau Claire River and the Chippewa River in the Phoenix Park vicinity. The development of this part of Eau Claire during the past decade has created a wonderful environment for leisure in a urban setting. During this portion of the tour the audio guide tells of the history of the logging and manufacturing industries in Eau Claire in the 19th and early 20th century. The second half of the tour travels the main thoroughfares of the historic downtown district in Eau Claire. Thankfully the audio directions are clear and concise as there are a number of times that the tour route crosses its own path and makes some switchbacks. During this portion of the tour the audio guide tells of the history of many original buildings as well as background on early Eau Claire businesses and artistry. There are a number of local businesses that offer discounts to audio tour patrons. In my case I finished the tour and then enjoyed a great meal at Houligans Steak & Seafood Pub with my discount nearly recovering the cost of the tour. Visitors to the Eau Claire area or local residents that want to learn more about the city should definitely make plans to spend a beautiful day out in the open-air while enjoying a pleasant history lesson about Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
