Historical Drinking Tour of Savannah

Overview
It's classier than a pub crawl and tipsier than a history tour! You'll spend three leisurely hours picking up some history, along with local libations, as you stroll through Savannah's Landmark Historic District. Unlike a rowdy pub crawl, your drinks are already paid for and have been chosen to represent the most distinctive favorites that have come and gone throughout the city's 285 year history. Party like it's 1799 with a glass of Madeira wine (and a cheese plate) at Jazz'd Tapas Bar, then sample six different meads (and even more varieties of honey) at Savannah Bee Company. After the mead, it's time for a mint julep at the 17Hundred90 Inn & Restaurant. Then end with a bang- a glass of Chatham Artillery Punch at the Pirate's House! Let a local show you how to get up close and personal with Savannah's delightful establishments, delicious alcoholic delicacies, and interesting history.

Not what we expected. The first stop was cancelled since they had run out of wine at the Tapa Bar per our tour guide. This was the stop where we were to be served some tapas along with our drink and it looked to be a really fun place. I would have been happy to just get another type of drink and still go there but our guide did not agree. The next stop was the mead tasting and that was great, The next stop was for Mint Juleps that were excellent but our tour guide Bonnie had bartender put the the drinks in plastic cups to go since she felt the bar was too busy. Being this was my first Mint Julep and such a cool bar I was very disappointed we were unable to get the drink served a in pretty glass as the other guests and time to enjoy the bar a bit. The last stop was for Chatham Artillery Punch at the Pirate Bar. I was really looking forward to this stop but once again out guide had the bartender put our drinks in plastic to go cups. We really enjoyed the group and the history part of the tour was very nice but at 160 a couple we just expected much more.

We only had one night in Savannah and we are pleased this is the tour we took! Very entertaining and informative look at the history of cocktails in the south. Tasting drinks we have never had before was great fun! A very nice stroll through the Historic District with some libations thrown in!!! Thank you Bonnie for the great time!

Our guide was excellent and it was a good way to tour on foot a lot of the lesser-known haunts in Savannah.
