We have patronized this cozy bike rental store for the past six years on our annual trip to NYC from Oklahoma, making a couple of days of riding through the different boroughs a "must do" activity. The staff here now treat us like family. This year, we took our adult children so there were five of us biking. The bikes are high-quality Cannondales and are maintained well. The business has a good, streamlined system for renting bicycles, important during the rush hours when Central Park tourists using the New York Pass overwhelm the place. We have never had a problem. We pay in advance for multiple days and return the bikes at the end of each day. They have offices in Lower Manhattan where you can return the bikes ($5 fee) if you don't want to ride back up to Midtown. Several other bicycle businesses have popped-up in the area, and I have a suspicion that their quality is not nearly as high. I know that the one time we strayed from Unlimited Biking, we had a very bad experience. Some of the UB staff are university students from other countries here to work for the summer(s). Yasmin from Egypt and Lea from Ireland stand out. The manager, Hakam, is also very nice. We can't imagine coming to New York without renting here.

Joe, thank you for taking the time to leave us this thoughtful review! We are always so happy to have you and your family join us to experience Central Park, year after year. We have also updated our policy, and if you make a reservation in advance, a free transfer is included for the whole group to another location - a great option if you plan to ride the whole city! We so appreciate your support year after year, and maybe the next adventure for you is to join us for a local cycling event - it's a super way to see the city in a different light. We can't wait to see you in 2020! - UB Team

I tries to go cheap and skip the insurance. Bad idea. My son's chain broke and we had to pay $40 fee, which was a huge rip off since it's like $15 for a bike chain, but whatever. I would give it a rating of 5 if they didn't charge us so much for the chain. Next time I'm going with the insurance. Otherwise a great way to see central park and cover a lot of ground. I don't recommend doing this with small kids or if you are not extremely comfortable on a bike. You do have to ride a few city blocks to get to the park and it's very confusing and hectic, but we figured it out and had a great time. Besides the broken chain it was a great experience. We were travelling as a family with 4 teenagers.

Amy, thank you for leaving us your feedback on the adventure! We are glad to hear you had a nice time in Central Park with us, and sorry to hear that you had a broken chain on the bike. We are about two blocks from Central Park, but you are always welcome to walk the bikes on the sidewalk instead of riding straight up 6th Avenue - especially recommended for smaller children. We hope you'd come see us again for another ride through the park! - UB Team

This was a great way to see the area along the Hudson River and explore what is there. The bikes were perfect.
