Two of us went on this cruise yesterday (sunny and perfectly calm water) for a grand total of $74 out the door, and it was pleasant but disappointing because we went no where near the Vanderbilt mansion! The turn around point is Esopus Meadows Lighthouse. I am telling you to be on time! They started closing the gate and pulling in the gangplank right on the dot IF not early! Their lot was full and we had no change so had to move from meter parking to the lot across under the bridge because that is free parking, and we had to SPRINT and yelled for them to stop everything and let us in and we were either at 1:29pm or 1:31pm!!!! I know the staff between the ticket booth and ground crew definitely saw us, but we were ignored! NO TIPS from us!!! Small town population can either be EXTREMELY nice and friendly or they can be EXTREMELY uncaring to outsiders, but yet their livelihood depends on tourist!

I was really looking forward to this cruise on Mother's day, but unfortunately it was disappointing for 2 reasons. The cruise was supposed to be 1 1/2 hours long, from 1:30-3. To me, that means a solid 1 1/2 hours on the water. In reality, the boat didn't leave the dock until almost 2:00.......but they sure made a point to be back by 3. The cruise was also supposed to go south on the Hudson to Vanderbuilt Mansion, which is the route shown on their brochure......but they turned around at the Esopus Lighthouse which is halfway! If this is 1/2 the trip as advertised, it should be 1/2 the price! If the advertised route is a longer (3 hour) trip, I think that should be disclosed.

Lucky to go out on a sunny yet cool day, we enjoyed the pleasant experience on the boat. However, the two hour tour lasted 90 minutes, and didn’t make it as far down the River as advertised in their brochure, other than two lighthouses up close, there was little too see.
