I read some of the other reviews and I have to say my wife and I enjoyed it, part of this was my birthday gift. This was a bus trip to Staatsburgh Mansion in the morning and lunch in Kingston, NY and the Rip Van Winkle Tour Cruise at 2PM. Maybe because of the day Sunday Oct 9th it was cloudy and it looked like rain so maybe people didn't want to go and also a bus of 54 people didn't show, this gave us more room to sit. I thought the person telling about the history of the Hudson River was great. We did see the lighthouses and the Mansions on the Hudson. To us it was great, I highly recommend it. We were not disappointed. This is a 2 hour tour.

We had a wonderful time. But.... not by any fault of the cruise, when you have other people talking amongst themselves loudly, it was very hard to understand what was being said over the speaker.

We toured most of Hudson Valley on land, such as Hyde Park. We wanted to get a river perspective and decided on your afternoon siteseeing tour. The Rip Van Winkle has a nice layout for tourist viewing. A lower deck glassed in with snacks and drinks available. Also, the restrooms on the lower deck were very handy. We were on the upper deck along the rail, but the viewing is very good from all seating. The narration of the history of the Hudson River, as well as, some of the Historic homes overlooking the Hudson was educational. Safety was of utmost importance to the tour, which was nice. The only thing I would recommend to future tourist is to bring a pair of binoculars to view the shoreline. I have some binoculars, but forgot to bring them. Dressing in layers during the fall season worked well. Thanks again for a wonderful ride down the Hudson River.
