The boat has a lower enclosed deck, a middle deck which is a shaded but otherwise open are, and an open air upper deck with bench seating.
A fully stocked bar with alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages and a snack bar with light fare such as hot dogs & fresh popped popcorn is available on the lower main deck at your own expense.
Outside food and beverages are not allowed on board the boat
There is plenty of seating on the boat, both inside and on the upper deck, which consists mainly of bench-style seating; the main lower deck has chairs; seating is on a first-come first-served basis, so be sure to arrive early if you’d like to sit in a particular area of the boat

We had an excellent time on the Hudson. The captain of the boat pointed out many interesting sights along the route.

We really enjoyed our cruise on the Rip Van Winkle. The staff was nice and there normally are many choices of beverages and snacks but they were out of quite a few things. And there credit machine was down so cash was needed. Also, we felt that the guide should have given more information about the river, surrounding areas, etc.

Thank you for taking a tour with us aboard the Rip Van Winkle and for taking the time to write a review. I would just like to point out that our credit card machine was not down. We clearly specify when booking that we only take cash on board for snacks and beverages. We do have an ATM that guests may use, but we do not take credit cards at the snack bar. The narration has been carefully curated by our Captains and Hudson River historians and we do our best to get in a great deal of information, while at the same time making the cruise relaxing and being able to point out wildlife and things that are happening on the river as we cruise.

Best cruise on the Hudson River bar none! Up close and personal views of Rondout Light and Esopus Meadows Light as well as sailing in and out of Rondout Creek with an abundance of cormorants and gulls. Beautiful in the fall after October's frosty nights bring out the autumn colors!
