The boat has a lower enclosed deck, a middle deck which is a shaded but otherwise open are, and an open air upper deck with bench seating.
A fully stocked bar with alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages and a snack bar with light fare such as hot dogs & fresh popped popcorn is available on the lower main deck at your own expense.
Outside food and beverages are not allowed on board the boat
There is plenty of seating on the boat, both inside and on the upper deck, which consists mainly of bench-style seating; the main lower deck has chairs; seating is on a first-come first-served basis, so be sure to arrive early if you’d like to sit in a particular area of the boat

was really looking forward to the cruise based on all the positive reports. what they don't mention anywhere on the website is that the company can cancel any tour whenever they want. imagine how we felt when we found a voicemail telling us that our 11AM trip was canceled with no warning. fortunately, we were able to cancel our hotel. but we were VERY disappointed to be told the cruise was suddenly cancelled because they didn't have enough passengers. the website is very clear that they do not cancel for poor weather. however, they never mention the possibility of THEM canceling at the last minute. the person i finally got to speak to (after leaving three unanswered calls) seemed quite annoyed that i was even questioning them i guess the trip works if you live nearby....or bring a big crowd.

We enjoyed our 1 1/2 hour afternoon cruise on the Rip Van Winkle- it was a perfect September day and the cruise bar offers a nice choice of beverages. We were very impressed with the port town of Kingston and the beauty of the Hudson. However, the tour information appeared to be taped and we could not hear it well at the front of the boat (where we sat) so we didn't really learn much about the structures and estates we were passing. Still highly recommend for a great outing.

I have been on a few Hudson River Cruises aboard the Rip Van Winkle. They never disappoint. This time I was hosting a retirement party. The process was smooth. When ever I had questions, I received quick responses. When I had to reschedule the cruise, they were very understanding and changed the date with no difficulties. The crew were just wonderful and checked on me and our group through out the night. The Hudson River is just a beautiful waterway to celebrate any occasion. I would highly recommend any of their cruises on the Rip Van Winkle.
