The trip up and down the Hudson was a relaxing way to spend a warm fall afternoon. Because of the pandemic, all passengers were required to wear masks when not seated, and strict social distance was required at all times. Beer , wine and light snacks were available for purchase. We had excellent views of two historic lighthouses as well as glimpses of some historic Hudson river estates and some more modern homes. The best views are from the top deck so we remained there as it is also the safest location given the current conditions. I would recommend this trip to others curious about the local history or for anyone who wants to enjoy a leisurely afternoon cruise. If taking this cruise when the weather is cooler I would recommend dressing to be outdoors so you can have social distance and fresh air .

We took this cruise in mid September. We waited in line an extra 20 minutes to board as they kept announcing engine trouble and they were waiting for a part. The cruise was uneventful, not many people aboard, but there was a large family group who were speaking loudly and interfering with hearing the commentary. The cruise was supposed to include the Vanderbuilt Mansion, but turned around at the Mills Mansion. In short, it was something to do in the pandemic time, but nothing to get excited about.

I have been wanting to take this cruise for almost two years and finally had the opportunity to do it. It was a cool late summer morning when we got out at 11:00am but it was the most spectacular sunny and clear morning and the the staff on the boat could not have been more professional. They really lead a nice tour for the 15 passengers that were on the boat that morning. We got to see the most spectacular views on the river on both sides with the summer foliage, some of the mansions that were in view of the boat like Staatsburgh and Wilderstein and some of the lesser known homes and the two lighthouses that Kingston was known for in the area. We also got a complete history of the area as well. It was nice to sit back and enjoy the cool breezes on a sunny day but I would advise anyone pick a warm day to come out on the boat because being on the river on a 50 degrees day is a little much for anyone. Also wear pants if it is cool out because the breezes can be daunting. Still you will see the most amazing views of the river and have the history of the area explained in audio and by the captain. It is a great trip and when you leave the boat, don't forget to go to the Hudson River Maritime Museum and Trolley Museum and explore the downtown.
