The boat has a lower enclosed deck, a middle deck which is a shaded but otherwise open are, and an open air upper deck with bench seating.
A fully stocked bar with alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages and a snack bar with light fare such as hot dogs & fresh popped popcorn is available on the lower main deck at your own expense.
Outside food and beverages are not allowed on board the boat
There is plenty of seating on the boat, both inside and on the upper deck, which consists mainly of bench-style seating; the main lower deck has chairs; seating is on a first-come first-served basis, so be sure to arrive early if you’d like to sit in a particular area of the boat

we went on the OUTSTANDING Rock n Roll Fred Zeppelin Band = Hudson River RIP VanWinkle Cruise of course we went for the Band Not the booze, We had never been on the Rip Van Winkle before so went open minded. Sadly it was raining which definitely made for a unique cramped experience. There are signs everywhere NO SMOKING & every smoker knows they can NOT smoke almost everywhere anymore but it's a controlling factor & they don't care about other people or themselves.There were several people smoking anyway and since it was very humid the stink was lingering & overwhelming. Then there were several people that could NOT hold their liquor stumbling around and tripping over themselves and the rest of us. That made for a difficult UN-enjoyable time as well. I found myself worrying more about my toes getting stepped on by them and wearing their drinks than enjoying the music. YES the bartender continued to serve them and that didn't help. Ugh. So overall if they would not serve drunks and enforce the No Smoking rule I think I would be able to give the RIP a 5Star but sadly that was a big BOOOO for us. I would have liked to have some sort of snacks but I didn't notice anything. I never actually went near the bar to find out what was available it was crowded with drinkers like any bar would attract Maybe your experience will be better I will go back again It wasn't awful but the weather made for cramped setting no doubt

Thank you for your feedback on this cruise. Your right about the rain being a factor. However you do make a good point about the smoking. I have taken some procedural steps to help enforce the "No Smoking" on the vessel. Unfortunately some patrons do not follow the rules The snack bar was open had you made your way to the front of the boat. I interviewed my bartenders that worked the boat that night. One has over 35 years experience. He said that none of the guests he served were impaired to the point to not serve them. Thank you for your input. I found it very valuable and will try to improve our service.

Great boat and crew - they serve food, drinks, and have a full service bar - nice for a 2 hour afternoon cruise from Kingston to Hyde Park - was so relaxing and learned more history about the area.
