The weather cooperated for our two-hour cruise heading south from Kingston down to the Hyde Park area. The boat had an outer deck and a larger closed portion. We opted to be outside and truly enjoyed the narrative. It was fun to see some of the famous mansions on the coast from the river perspective and to hear the history. I especially enjoyed the view of the charming Esopus Lighthouse--on our way back, we could see a small tour group there, which arrived from the Kingston Maritime Museum. The crew members were very nice, and refreshments were available. It was a relaxing way to spend the afternoon.

We had a nice morning trip. We did this the year before when it was a little warmer but it's always nice to get out and see the sights on the Hudson. My only gripe this time was there were people who just wanted to stand in front of people and gab as we were trying to relax and take in the scene and listen to the narrator. If you do go be sure to take a look at the bald Eagle as he always is in his tree on this trip!

a two hour cruise going south of Kingston to the Vanderbilt mansion and then turning around. Commentary of the many mansions etc from the Guilded Age youI see along the shore. Two lighthouses also. Boat has upper and lower decks with open areas. There are individual chairs, not benches, in the open areas which I liked better since you could move around and getter better views. There is a gift shop, snack bar and full bar available. Bathrooms are on the lower deck. If you buy tickets online you can save a few dollars. Senior citizen cost was $24. Commentary could have been a little more extensive but it was adequate. WE had a beautiful weather day so it was a wonderful experience. The dock area has a small parking lot but there is plenty of metered parking along the street. Restaurants and small maritime museum nearby.
