Denali National Park and Preserve

With clear sky conditions, guests can view Mountain Denali in all its wonder, as well as the many mountains surrounding Fairbanks.

Breathtaking views of the Aurora Borealis from some of our key Northern Light viewing locations. We will make sure you get to see the Aurora

Chena River State Recreation Area

Each night guests can view the beautiful scenery that surrounds Fairbanks, including the beautiful Chena River and surrounding lakes, streams and more.

Felix Pedro Monument

Gold, Gold, Gold! Alaska is known for oil and gold. Our guides are familiar with gold panning and the man who first discovered gold in July 1902, starting the Fairbanks Gold Rush. This monument is one of many treasures we are happy to share whenever possible with guests. Please remember we go where the clear skies are and not all guests have the same locations to visit. If you want to learn about Alaskan History, ask our wonderful guides who are happy to share both personal and historical facts and stories.

Alyeska Pipeline Viewing Point

Here at Aurora in Alaska we go to the best cloud free location each night. One of our favorites stops along the way is the awe-inspiring and historical Alyeska Pipeline. Whenever possible our guides happily share our Alaskan history with oil and take guests up close and personal to the pipeline.

Hotel pickup was very easy in Fairbanks. Went to the location with the expected clearest skies for the night, sat there for a few hours and awaiting the aurora. During that time, they had a fire pit, hot drinks, and reindeer sausages—which was all a great way to pass the time. Went to a secondary location, as we were having no luck. En route to the new location, the aurora popped. We pulled off to the side of the road, and got all the pictures we could. This was during overtime, but they do what’s needed to make sure you have the best chance to see the Aurora. It’s a top notch setup, and I’d highly recommend them!

We had an unforgettable experience chasing the aurora, thanks to the team at Aurora in Alaska. Starting with Nicole, the coordinator, she truly is “the golden heart of Alaska”! She was determined to make our aurora bucket list dream come true, as she rescheduled our pickup time on the first night when our flight arrived late so we wouldn’t miss the tour. Nicole also ensured that I sat in the front as I was prone to motion sickness. When I felt unwell on the 2nd night, she sent me a list of local restaurants that served soup! She genuinely cared. Communication was great, not only with Nicole, but also with the rest of the team. On the evening of the tour, they provided a real-time app to track the pickup so we could stay warm indoors until the van arrived at the hotel. The guides & photographers were all professional and knowledgeable. They knew how to avoid clouds and constantly monitored aurora activities in order to get us to the best vantage point (not only to see auroras but also locations with forest & lake backdrop for photos). They encouraged questions and engaged in all of the discussions on aurora and local tidbits. They patiently took pictures & videos on their professional cameras for everyone; advised on phone & camera settings; and provided tripods for steady photos. There were also special touches like setting up bonfires & chairs, hot drinks, reindeer dogs, and keeping the van running so we can stay warm. My husband went on the tour for 4 consecutive nights. Each night a different (2 or 3) locations dependent on the aurora activity, with the most epic auroras on the 4th evening, even though the weather forecasted a cloudy night. The team knows where to find the perfect spot! Auroras are elusive and roads leading up to some of these viewing locations may be far and bumpy. Either you are very lucky and know how to drive on backcountry roads in the dark or just make your lives easy by choosing the knowledgeable and caring team at Aurora in Alaska! You will definitely increase your odds of seeing auroras with them!

Amazing pick up in the starlight express van. Great communication. Not the tour operators fault I am a wimp and 1 degrees is too cold for me! I should have brought the warming socks. We got some amazing pictures and the reindeer sausage was tasty! Hot apple cider saved my fingers!
