Gold, Gold, Gold! Alaska is known for oil and gold. Our guides are familiar with gold panning and the man who first discovered gold in July 1902, starting the Fairbanks Gold Rush. This monument is one of many treasures we are happy to share whenever possible with guests. Please remember we go where the clear skies are and not all guests have the same locations to visit. If you want to learn about Alaskan History, ask our wonderful guides who are happy to share both personal and historical facts and stories.

Alyeska Pipeline Viewing Point
Here at Aurora in Alaska we go to the best cloud free location each night. One of our favorites stops along the way is the awe-inspiring and historical Alyeska Pipeline. Whenever possible our guides happily share our Alaskan history with oil and take guests up close and personal to the pipeline.

Had the tour the night of September 3, 2024. As most of the reviews say, everything about the excursion was very well done. In addition, at least compared to some of the other aurora tours we heard about from fellow travelers on our trip, Aurora in Alaska puts forth the extra effort to try to "find" the auroras, even when the physics doesn't cooperate. During our evening, the Kp index was decent (3) but the magnetic field index (Bz) wasn't cooperating. So, we only saw a faint aurora glow. But, the guides told us that they would watch the skies on our trip back to the hotels. Sure enough, at about 3:30 a.m. they pulled off the highway and got us out of the vans to "look up". Beautiful overhead aurora displays were there! We spent about 20 minutes watching and getting our photos taken. Got back to the hotel about half an hour later than planned, but couldn't have been happier! Others taking aurora excursions didn't get to see anything that night. Great job Aurora in Alaska. Couldn't be happier with our booking with you.

Guides were friendly and went the extra mile, literally, to make sure we saw the aurora. Definitely recommend a driving tour if the conditions in Fairbanks are cloudy as this allows the flexibility of driving to a clearer location.

Nate was a great driver..very accommodating. The guides drove all over to catch the best viewing areas, so we spent a lot of time in the van. We stopped at 2 different places and had some great pictures taken. The last place we stopped was very windy, so we weren't able to have the campfire. We were given coffee and hot chocolate tho. My only less than positive comment was that they tried so hard to give us our moneys worth, that the trip turned out to be very long with a lot of time in the van.

Thank you so much for your feedback! We're thrilled to hear that you had a great experience with Nate and appreciated his accommodating nature. It's wonderful to know that our guides' efforts to find the best viewing areas resulted in some fantastic photo opportunities. We understand that the extended time in the van made the trip feel a bit long, and we apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused. Your comfort and satisfaction are very important to us, and we will take your comments into consideration to improve future tours. We're glad you enjoyed the coffee and hot chocolate, especially with the windy conditions at the last stop. Thank you for choosing our tour, and we hope to welcome you on another adventure soon!
