Overview

Floating past spectacular geological formations and views of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range as you run exciting Class II-III rapids. This trip is suitable for families, first timers or experienced rafters with great views and lots of adventure. You will run the best 10 miles of whitewater in Bighorn Sheep Canyon, groups or individuals looking to experience whitewater rafting in Colorado for the first time or tenth time. Great views and adventure! 2 to 3 hours on the water. This is the only trip that can start out of either of our locations.

You will meet at our office and check in with our friendly office staff, meet your guide, get outfitted with the proper rafting equipment, go through and in depth safety orientation and then hop on a van or bus for a 25-30 drive to the river put int

Once you arrive at the the river you will be given specific a professional guide that will take you on an adventure of a life time! You will spend 2-2.5 hours on the water running great whitewater, potential Bighorn Sheep sightings and viewing amazing Colorado scenery.

We had an awesome trip today with Amanda as our guide. She was knowledgeable of the rapids and was entertaining also. We highly recommend Arkansas River Tours if you are in the Cotopaxi area.

Our whole experience was great. Easy booking to start was nice. Staff at the Cotopaxi branch were very nice and greeted us quickly. Danny was a great guide and very helpful with all the safety stuff. Steve was a good driver on the curvy road. Once on the water danny was a great guide. He was even nice enough to throw my youngest son in the river, which made his day!! We had a great time and got to do some extra swimming that the other boats didn't get to do! My oldest son got to guide the boat along the final stretch of the trip. I would give it more than 5 stars but that's all I coud !!

Our guide was Ethan and he was fantastic! We had a 14 year old and an 8 year old and he engaged them both throughout the ride. He was funny and enthusiastic, pointing out all the rock formations and the names he’d come up with for them. The kids thought it was hilarious (so did everyone else!). We even got to surf a rapid. None of the other boats in our group got to do that and it was so fun! We all got soaked and had permagrins the whole time. From the safety/education talk from Sarah, to Jose fist bumping everyone and wishing them luck as we got off the bus, to Ethan being a top notch guide, this was one of the best rafting experiences we’ve had (my husband and I have been multiple times before). To make a teenager smile for the 2 hours we were on the river is an accomplishment. Thanks ART for making our family trip to CO one to remember!
