One on one, very personal so we got to ask lots of questions; interacting with the dogs was awesome; the slide show to see her sledding experience, etc. and learning about the off grid lifestyle!

Fascinating experience learning how a former tech worker from silicon valley now lives essentially on her own in remote Alaska. Her name is Iris and the tour introduces you to her sled dogs (lots of interaction with the dogs) and how she has learned to live sustainably in that harsh climate. Her resourcefulness is apparent in the way she has solved many of the problems of living off the grid. No electricity? Well then figure out how to design, construct and operate a solar panel/battery system. Her relationship with her canine family is a joy that any pet lover will understand and appreciate. But even more, her dogs are essential contributors to the work that must be done to live this way. Her story is inspirational and shows what determination can accomplish.

Owner was knowledgeable and warm, eager to share details of her life with the dogs and their stories. It was interesting to get to know the dogs, especially how their demeanor changes the moment they are harnessed to the sled. We learned a lot. The visit certainly made us forget about the pouring rain.
