We were trying to decide what to do when our flight was canceled, and the host at our B and B suggested Iris and this tour. What a find! We loved playing with the dogs, but they're not pets - Iris taught us how to do it safely. Then she told us so much about how she lives off the grid, and will travel with her dogs in weather as low as 45 below. It really makes you think. We're so glad we went.

Highly recommend - especially for middle school or older children. Learn a lot about sled dogs and their behavior along with how to use natural resources for sustainable living (water from rain, power from solar, gardening, canning, etc). Especially interesting how this is done in Alaska climate of extreme cold winters.

Traveling throughout Alaska with my son to celebrate his college graduation. Our time with Iris and her dogs at Flower Kennel exceeded all expectations and was truly cherished. Iris educated and inspired by sharing the fine details of her environmental stewardship and kind and commanding care of her kennel. Her warm welcome and deep enthusiasm for all she has built were so appreciated. We loved hearing about her arctic adventures with the dogs and spending time getting to know them one by one.
