This is the fourth luau I’ve been to on three of the islands. It was by far the most disappointing. The only positive was it was right next door to our hotel. The dancers were not in sync and seemed to be slogging through the show. Food was typical luau food. Nothing exceptional about it.

I’m not a fan of Luau’s. I went to one on Oahu and thought I’d never do it again but our friends never tried one and we thought we’d give it another try on Big Island. I paid for preferred seating cause I wanted to do it right. This one made the Oahu Luau seem like a 5-star Luau. Terrible drinks and food, bugs everywhere, boring performance. Really disappointed. I’m here out of courtesy but I really wanna run out!!!

Honestly, we found this luau to be boring. I paid for the Lehua Package, which worked out wonderfully for the expedited check-in (there was a long line to check in). From there, we were given a flower lei, had our photo taken and then walked to the beach area to be seated. The gentleman seating people bypassed us (a party of 2) several times before finally acknowledging us. We were sandwiched between two families and even though, we were seated at a table in front of the stage, had to strain to see above our table mates heads. It was announced that the bar was open and everyone rushed to grab Mai Tai’s and other beverages (fruit punch, beer, wine, etc). After we all grabbed our drinks and sat back down, it was announced that the pig was going to be “dug up” so everyone was to go to the viewing area. With all of the luau attendees present, it was hard to see. Then the “royal court” walked by us, using the same pathway we used when walking into the luau. Again, it was hard to see. Shortly after sitting back down, it was announced we could eat. There were traditional Hawaiian dishes (Mac salad, white rice, Kālua pig, chicken, fish, etc), as well as fruit, salad and a dessert table with chocolate and coconut cake (Sara Lee; not homemade). The food was good and plentiful. This was when it got boring. There was too much dead time between eating and entertainment. I kept looking around the room and saw people yawning, on their phones or walking toward the beach because nothing was going on. Yes, there was music in the background but no entertainment. Not even the Mai Tai’s helped with the boredom. When the performers finally came on stage, I was underwhelmed. I kept waiting for it to get exciting but it never did. We ended up leaving the show early and went back to our hotel room. Would I go to this luau again? Probably not.
