We greatly enjoyed our private tour with Homegrown Tours. The experience of a 3rd generation local, the knowledge of the island, people, culture and history was remarkable. The food stops were clam chowder at one place and cookies at another, yum yum. Be sure and book your own Homegrown Tour when you visit the Vineyard.

We arrived to the island hoping to catch a bus tour with no luck. The woman at the information booth passed a card to us for Deedee with Homegrown tours. It was a huge blessing! Deedee was able to do a private tour for the 4 of us. She drove us to each town and told us the history, personal stories, and stories of each area. She talked about jaws, showed the locations and added in her own personal memories of it being filmed when she was little. We made various stops around the island to explore and take pictures. She pulled off at the orange peel bakery. We were able to meet the local owner who baked her own pizzas and goods in a wood fire oven. Wonderful tour! So thankful we were put in touch with DeeDee, she saved our Martha’s Vineyard trip!

Didi gave an outstanding tour of the island, loaded with history and fun facts---especially about the filming of Jaws. She was enthusiastic, professional, and easy going. There were plenty of photo opportunities and time to walk around the harbor. The best was learning so much about the history of the island, the early settlers, and some of the prominent families. If you love history as we do, book this tour and you won't be disappointed.
