DeeDee took my family and I on a 2.5 hour tour of the island. I've been visiting Martha's Vineyard since the 70s and learned more on this tour than any other I've been on. If you want to see all the locations the movie Jaws was filmed, DeeDee knows all the details. If you want to learn about the early settlers and details of Martha's Vineyard she knows that as well. Fabulous tour and would highly recommend it!

We lucked into this at the last minute as DeeDee was available for a private tour same afternoon. We had been in touch before we got to MV as I was trying to come up with a private tour itinerary. I was having a little trouble as we were trying to keep it to 3 hours (cost $$$) and didn't know exactly what to see. I knew we wanted to go to Acquinnah Cliffs & Menemsha but unsure what else. DeeDee picked us up at our hotel (Edgartown) and we went across the island towards Gay Head. She is a 3rd generation islander who knows her island history but could pepper that with personal anecdotes about growing up on the island. That made much of it come alive. Its one thing to imagine Wampanoag indians and white settlers in the 17th century and another to hear tales of being a teenager in the 70's while Jaws was being filmed. We saw Acquinnah cliffs and Gay Head lighthouse (couldn't go in as tours happened later in the season). I would've liked to have hiked down to the beach on the cliffs but as we're paying by the hour for the tour we felt compelled to keep going. Next was Menemsha village, famous for its sunsets and also scenes in Jaws. I watched Jaws a couple weeks before our visit so was refreshed. We saw a bit of all six villages and the Methodist camp with colorful cabins. If you find "top 25" things to do in MV - DeeDee knocked most of them off our list. She's a delightful tour guide and I unhesitatingly recommend her.

Deedee did two tours for our group. She was very knowledgeable about the Island and gave a great tour tailored to the group. Would definitely recommend HomeGrown Tours when you visit Martha's Vineyard. Deedee picked us up at the hotel we were all staying in. Door to door service! It is so nice to see a women-owned business to support. She even has a wheel-chair accessible bus.
