Having never been to Martha’s Vineyard, we were looking for a tour of the island that would both educate and entertain. We came across HomeGrown Tours and based on the many positive reviews decided to give them a try. We are glad we did. From coordinating the tour with the owner, Delores, to participating in the tour with our Tour Guide, Devon, we had an excellent experience. Delores called us the morning of the tour to confirm and explain the parking procedures for the ferry from Falmouth (Woodshole) to Martha’s Vineyard. As a side note: if you are taking the ferry from Falmouth to Martha’s Vineyard - you have to park in an offsite parking lot and take a shuttle bus to the ferry so make sure you give yourself time to park and catch the shuttle (about a 10 minute ride to the ferry) . Since we were only a party of 4, our tour was conducted in their Ford Explorer. As soon as we reached the island, Devon met us at the ferry and we were on our way. Devon was very personable and genuinely interested in providing us with a great tour experience. We made several stops that included one of the famous lighthouses, a great bakery (best peanut butter cookie ever), “Larsons” Fishmarket which had the best clam chowder in all of New England, and one of the locations where the movie “Jaws” was filmed. Being fans of the movie we found the information Devon provided to be an extra treat. Our friends who accompanied us on the tour are from Aruba and really enjoyed the authentic New England experience that HomeGrown Tours offered. Thank you again to Devon and Delores - what a great tour.
