First, you need to be aware that Jamestown is the subject of 2 separate museum experiences in Williamsburg, PA. Each site has a separate admission price and serves a different purpose. "Jamestown Historic" is the actual site of the 17th century settlement, while this, "Jamestown Settlement" is a living history museum. I really recommend seeing both. The costumed interpreters were all very knowledgeable and all were very engaging. We came away having learned many new things about the seventeenth century, as well as learning something about ourselves. There are three areas, representing the 3 groups of people who lived in the area at the time: the natives (Native American), the English settlers, and those who were enslaved as "cheap labor". You can clearly see and compare each groups ' culture and traditions. You can also board a replica ship that carried the settlers across the ocean. We stopped for a late lunch in the cafe. and were very happy to see that they listed gluten-free pizza and gluten free sandwiches on the main menu. When I ordered gluten free pizza, I noticed that the server immediately changed her gloves and got clean utensils. I appreciate that attention details that ensure my safety.

It was such a wonderful learning experience! I love vacations where we can gain more knowledge and not just have fun. Everyone was friendly and the weather was perfect!

My cousins and I visited Jamestown Settlement recently. You can walk out to the replica village/fort to see who the settlers lived. Then continue to the ships that are docked in the outlet. You can check out the ships on your own and ask questions to the people working on them. We returned to the Museum to check it out. The museum has a lot of information about the people who settled the area and the things they went through. Carve out a couple of hours for this museum. It's worth it.
