Big Morongo Canyon Preserve
Nestled among the Little San Bernardino Mountains in the Sand to Snow National Monument, the desert oasis at Big Morongo Canyon is one of the 10 largest cottonwood and willow riparian habitats in California. The upstream end of the canyon lies in the Mojave Desert, while its downstream portion opens into the Colorado Desert. There are numerous trails to walk and hike, including a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk through the marsh and riparian habitats. At 31,000 acres with elevations ranging from 600 feet on the canyon floor to 3000 feet at the top of the ridge, this diverse landscape has been an important part of the Morongo Basin’s natural and cultural history for almost two billion years.

Louis was an excellent guide for our tour from Palm Desert to Joshua Tree. We will in the enclosed Hummer and I was glad since it was still a bit chilly for this time of year. Louis kept the Hummer warm and was very accommodating. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and he let us move at our chosen pace. I highly recommend this tour.

Had a great experience with Adventure Hummer Tours! We chose the afternoon/sunset tour of Thousand Palms Oasis and Joshua Tree National Park. The tour was informative and beautiful. Our tour guide, Patrick (Pat), was knowledgeable, fun, and extremely professional. We actually ran into an issue with the AC in our pick-up van not working. Pat was quick to exchange vans to ensure our comfort - great customer service! We took the van to Thousand Palms Oasis where we explored the beautiful palms and learned the history of the area. Next up was Joshua Tree National Park. The tour of the park is OUTSTANDING in their open-air H1 hummer. My friends and I had a blast on the back of the hummer riding through the desert. Not only did we see the magnificent landscape, but we were able to experience the park in a unique and exciting fashion. Traveling through the winding sand roads on the back of the hummer while we drove to higher elevations was such a memorable experience. Just remember to bring extra layers - Joshua Tree does get chilly, especially at night. The hummer even comes prepared with blankets and jackets too :-) Thanks, Adventure Hummer Tours, for being a highlight of our vacation!!

The oasis was beaiftul and the mountains in the park give you a gorgeous view. Pack a jacket, it’s very chilly in the Hummer. They do have blankets. Thanks Gary for the ride back to our lunch spot, very kind of you to go out of your way for my daughter and I!
