Big Morongo Canyon Preserve
Nestled among the Little San Bernardino Mountains in the Sand to Snow National Monument, the desert oasis at Big Morongo Canyon is one of the 10 largest cottonwood and willow riparian habitats in California. The upstream end of the canyon lies in the Mojave Desert, while its downstream portion opens into the Colorado Desert. There are numerous trails to walk and hike, including a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk through the marsh and riparian habitats. At 31,000 acres with elevations ranging from 600 feet on the canyon floor to 3000 feet at the top of the ridge, this diverse landscape has been an important part of the Morongo Basin’s natural and cultural history for almost two billion years.

Went on this tour with our work group and had a blast! Don was so knowledgeable, with great stories and made our experience one we will never forget! Felt safe the whole time but he also had us on the edge of our seats. Would highly recommend this to anyone who wants to go out into the desert to learn about your surroundings, and have an awesome ride along the way!

You were so lucky to go with Don. It was his last tour with us before taking a leave of absence as his wife died. Despite dealing this extremely sad circumstance, Don delivers with a great personality and attitude only a few people of sufficient mettle have - thanks for the kind comments!

This was the best part of my trip to Palm Springs. The tour is amazing with a lot of fun facts and even a stop for donuts. The sights are gorgeous. I do suggest bringing a sweatshirt for the hummer part and sunscreen if you burn easily. Ask for Jeff if you go!! He is the greatest.
