We booked a 4,5 hours excursion to be more time on the water, nevertheless the time on the water with the whales was 1,5 hours at maximum, so far below expectations. The time on the water was exactly the same as people who booked 3,5 hour excursion and which was much cheaper. So our dissapointment was big. We also started more than half hour later as the bus was late.

Gerrie_G, We are very sorry to hear that we did not meet your expectations. We strive to deliver the best possible service we can - each experience is unique in it's own way. After looking into the schedule for this day, I do not see that your driver, Jack, was unusually late and the other guests on the tour with Greg and Jamie had a great time - the tour operated as planned. We are regulated by NOAA/Whale Sense (https://whalesense.org/about/) in regards to how long we can spend viewing any single whale or group of whales - that time limit is 20-30 minutes. After that, we are required to move on and find other whales or wildlife. As indicated in the online description - this tour is approximately 4 hours and 5 minutes which includes travel time to and from the cruise ship docks (minimum of 20 minutes each way) . From Viator: "A complimentary stop at the Brotherhood Bridge for a view of the Mendenhall Glacier is available before or after each tour depending on that day's schedule. *Weather dependent - 4 hours and 5 minutes INCLUDES round trip transfer time from the cruise ship docks." August 13, 2024 - We had a beautiful day on the Chilkat with Capt, Greg and our naturalist Nic. Capt. Greg was funny and knew where to go to see whales. (And no, the whales are not tagged!) We had our first sighting within 5 minutes. Nic provided alot of wonderful facts about marine life. There was a momma and a baby humpback within 20 feet of the Chilkat. We couldn't have asked for anything better....Except a family of Orcas!! Crazy cool! The entire tour was top notch. From the pickup at the NCL Bliss dock, to the 30 minute ride to the marina, 3 hours on the water and then back to cruise port with a quick stop for a photo of the Mendenhall Valley, everything was amazing! And the sunny 60 degree day made it even more enjoyable. Thank you for such a wonderful and memorable experience!

So glad I booked this shore excursion! Starts with a short shuttle ride to their docks, where they offer full facilities prior to embarking in a well-maintained, spacious boats. Staff are fun, engaging and knowledgeable. We saw plenty of whales, including a pair of moms with their calves! Book directly with Harv & Marv to save big bucks! This was the highlight of my Alaska trip!
