Our tour started right off the pier when John picked us up. He was awesome. He gave us a history of Juneau and pointed out all kinds of wildlife that we would’ve missed. He was a great historian since he was born there and lived there all his life. We even got to see four bear Cubs playing in a field. We stopped by to see the glacier and get pictures. We got delivered to Auke Bay and we met Celeste, our naturalist. She took us to the boat, the Alaskan, where we met Captain Ray. We were the first tour of the day. (Which I highly recommend) We got moving fast. The boat was comfortable and smooth. At first I was a bit disheartened thinking this was just going to be an expensive boat ride. Celeste was friendly and knowledgeable and we learned alot. Finally we saw our first Humpback. And then the 2nd and 3rd. Saw the backs and some tails. It was great and I was happy. But see, all the boats communicate with each other and there was word of a momma and calf. Capt Ray got us there quickly and then the show began. The baby started breaching!! Ohhh it was amazing. He came sooo close to the boat. Capt Ray tried to move us away for the whales safety, but he kept coming closer. It was an incredible experience. Made our whole trip. We had beverages and snacks as we moved on to other whales. We sat in one area and saw many whales all around us. Even a seal. Again, the boat was good, had a bathroom, big windows, front and back viewing decks. I’d give it 10
Stars if I could.
