The trip was pretty pricey, but thought it was worth it. You are only on the ice for 20 minutes (we didnt feel like we needed more than that anyways) and the rest in the air on the helicopter. Gorgeous views of the mountains and ice fields. The staff was quite rude, but it was at the end of the season so they were probably tired of dealing with tourists all summer long. The pilot, however, was fantastic. He was super chipper and friendly. He even took us on a different route than their usual one due to the nice weather.

Coastal helicopters runs its ice tours with military care an efficiency, and given the potential dangers, I mean that as a compliment. Its staff are there to keep you from walking into propeller blades, to keep you from damaging some vulnerable equipment (that bag just below the steps),, and getting you belted in properly, Likewise, on the ice, the pilot advises you how to avoid falling down a crevasse (from which, he warns, "there is no guarantee of rescue") and prudently warns not to get too far from the chopper to find a way back. Bottom line: Standing in the middle of a glacier is awesome, something that just absolutely should be done. Notes on equipment: Coastal gives you special shoes and helps you put them on, thankfully, since that's not too easy. And, you should bring some sort of cup or bottle to scoop up some glacier water which is, indeed, truly delicious. The trip is shorter than some, but shows you a glacier after a fun chopper flight.
