Two of us cycled 250 miles, give or take, using Crossroads Bike Tours hybrids and trip notes. It's a super easy way to concentrate on cycling and the beauty of your surroundings when your accommos - great, btw - and luggage are waiting for you at the end of the day. The gravel riding is flat but means no coasting; you're pedaling the entire way. Spur trails lead to points of interest like an 1800s era Methodist cemetery or derelict remains of a mining past. The welcome boards at each town's depot were fantastic. Gave lots of historical info and things to look out for as you pass mile markers ahead. Just a grand experience. Learned a lot as we cycled the route of Lewis & Clark.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed the two day self-guided Winery bike ride. Communications and materials with Crossroads were timely and very effective. The B & B was excellent. Being seniors, we rented e-bikes and loved them.

Crossroads Bike Tours provided us with a map, itinerary, lunch and dinner suggestions as well as breakfast every morning, hotel accommodations, and bikes. They moved our luggage each day to the next place. The trail and weather were beautiful in the fall month of October. The scenery is pretty but does not vary much- forest and farmland along the Missouri River. The trail is pretty hard packed in most places and there are no big hills going west to east from Clinton to St. Charles. The bikes were in good condition and included tool kits. A couple in the group had minor problems with their bikes the first day and Crossroads came out to our hotel early on the second day to fix them. Make sure your bike is comfortable for you- there are a couple of styles and some are more comfortable than others for a 6 day trip. A bit of advice- call ahead to make sure restaurants are open for lunch and dinner. In October, we found that many restaurants are open on limited schedules and you may end up going hungry if you don't verify the openings. Also you are in small town Midwest American- a garden salad is iceberg lettuce with a sprinkle of tomatoes and a Cobb salad is the same except it includes Spam. The hotels were clean and pleasant. The people very friendly and helpful. The wine tasting fun. I would recommend Crossroads for biking the Katy Trail.
