It was fun to do something different than being on the boat for the whale watching. Kayaking to watch the whales was nice. Saw several whales in the distance. Snorkeling was a lot of fun too. Saw turtles and pretty fish and corals.

Roger is the whale whisperer. We saw at least 10 whales, 3 breaches, and a whale surfacing within 5 feet of our kayak. Will never forget this experience.

The snorkeling off Oluwalu is lovely, with amazing clear water, lots of fish and coral, and sea turtles galore! The kayaking is pretty easy and smooth and this trip is appropriate for those new to both snorkeling and kayaking. From the kayaks, you get a lovely view of the Oluwalu Valley. Between December and April you may also get a chance to see humpback whales while you're out - but you likely won't get too close as the snorkeling area is much too shallow for them! Of the snorkeling trips I've done, the conditions and sights on this trip were hands down the best (Costa Rica/Manuel Antonio, Vietnam/Halong Bay, Miami/Biscayne). That said, if you are prone to motion sickness, definitely take some Dramamine. I overestimated myself and how clear the water looked! We had plenty of time to kayak and snorkel and enjoyed what we saw. Snorkeling/Kayaking 5/5 I emailed and called Roger several times to book my kayak and snorkel trip. The price Roger offered me was by far the cheapest out of the many options I had. But Roger did have several miscommunications. I had to call three times to finish booking my trip and he always seemed distracted. When we showed up for the tour, he said he was full for the day although we had a reservation (Turned out he never checked if the other parties that day were actually reserved and in the right place. One couple booked it out of there, now being 30 minutes late for some other tour.) As he gave directions for how to paddle or snorkel, he frequently would be multitasking, would turn away from the group, and nobody would hear what he said. He was also very preoccupied with whale watching, recording whale songs, and keeping us stationary out on the water for about 30 minutes waiting to see whales (which unfortunately didn't appear this day). We booked the Turtle Reef Snorkel and Kayak, so this was a long and slightly uncomfortable detour. We always felt safe and in control of the situation, but may not have always felt heard or understood. As of 3 weeks later, the pictures he took of the trip are still not on his site. So logistics gets 3/5, rounding to 4/5. If you're neurotic or paranoid or have kids that need very clear directions, this may not be the tour for you.
