Seeing the manta rays rolling and getting so close to these creatures is amazing and is a must do while on the Big Island. Some things to know before you go with this tour company: 1. They operate from a picnic table near the public bathrooms. Leave all your valuables at home and just wear a bathing suit, bring a mask if you have it (no fins), a towel and some water shoes. Everything else is put in bins and stored under the truck. 2. The boat is a zodiac. Quarters are tight and covid masks are not worn. Also mobility is important to be able to get into and out of the boat. 3. Definitely wear shoes to the boat as you may be walking across the parking lot in the dark after the trip which I did barefoot because they said shoes were optional. 4. This group does NOT go into the area lit by the Sheraton, other boats and scuba divers. Instead they use a specially designed paddle board outfitted with LED lights and the participants hang on to the board. We still saw 5 or so manta rays and they even touched us which was amazing but you should know that this vendor experience is different than going on a boat. 5. The staff in general were very casual so don't expect a professional slick group running this program. Loved the mantas but didn't love this operation.

Happy to hear our captain and crew took you away from the crowd to get the best viewing of the manta rays. Our tour DOES go to the dive site lit by the Sheraton. Our small group size and more manageable craft allows us to live boat and maneuver to wherever the best viewing of the animals are. Unlike our personal and flexible operation, large boats and groups must anchor to a permanent mooring, guests and guides cannot detach from mooring site. If you're looking for something fancy, where most of your time is spent waiting for large groups to get on and off the boat be ready to pay a fancy price unlike the discounted rates we offer. Aloha.

This was an incredible experience! It is nothing like anything you have done before. The Manta Rays swim right up to you...maybe an inch or two from your face. They are very gentle and while you might be a bit nervous about them for your first two minutes, you will quickly be able to enjoy how majestic they are. Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours were wonderful from check in, to boarding, to the experience itself and back. We had 3 kids with us - ages 5-11, and they were incredibly patient and helpful with them as well. You should book it right now. You won't regret it!
